Hi All,

I fit an E16SE cam and a C16NZ inlet manifold to my C14NZ and the problems satrted. .

The car`s idle speed is about 2k rpm I think that may be due to the bad blocking of the EGR hole in the inlet manifold, but do you think the cam has to do anything with it?

When idle it runs on 3 (or maybe 2) cylinders. When it starts buildig up revs at about 2500 rpm the 4th cyl kicks in. Any ideas here?

Do you thin that the idle control motor is the same for the C14NZ and C18NZ engines?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

I fitted the same mods as you to my old engine, and it idled and ran perfectly.

I would check all vacuum hoses are connected right, the one going to the MAP sensor etc as if they aren't that will give a high idle.

Also the EGR holes are a problem, i blocked them using a lot of Instant Gasket silicone, and bolted a steel plate down using the EGR valve bolt holes.

The c14nz has a different idle control motor to a c18nz.

Thanks!!!

I just played a bit with the EGR hole and I think I finaly managed to block it, but the car still runs on 2-3 cyls when idling. It keeps about 1000rpm for a few seconds then jumps to 3000rpm then back to 1000. . . and so on. Any ideas?

PS All hoses are connected properly.

Are you still using the c14nz throttle body?

Yes, I do not have an idle control motor for the 1.8 TB

Should the timing on both cams be the same?

Yeah

I have some big unknown problem then.

The timing is the same. The ignition leads are in order and it still runs on 3 (or maybe even 2) cylinders under 2000rpm  and has jumpy idle
