when you say "when you took it out" - do you mean depress the clutch?
and when you brake your engine revs rise?

So changing gear causes the car to stall and stopping causes the rev go shoot up?

Sounds shagged mate!

is it 1.4 injection or carbs?

My seat Ibiza when feeling "lumpy" the revs rise when I'm stationary - usually when its just started. Could be choke sticking (auto or manual).

Re the clutch - if its loose - and the engine is cutting out - could be clutch not disengaging... so stalling - can you change gear?

need more info...

im going to try to translate that..

its a 1.4 injection and when i took the car out for a drive, i was sitting at some traffic lights , and the engine either raises the revs or will cut out.

i also cant feel the biting point on the clutch, would this be because its loose?

1) Good thinking Ade on the clutch causing a stall, but doesnt explain engine revving. Id guess at a faulty AFM if the revs are 'hunting', and its obviously not coping with the bottom out, so it stalls.

2) How high do you have to lift the clutch before the car starts moving? is the pedal on the floor or very high? If its on the floor, the cable needs tightening up a bit, vise versa if its high. A high pedal can also indicate a clutch on its last legs as well.

umm well its pretty high but 9/10 it wil jus cut out unles u rev the engine n release slowly and if somethin was clogging up the fuel line would that also be a reason for it cuttin out as the former own ran it totally empty more than once would somethin or got into the fuel line n cause it stalling and thanks 4 al the help lads
