i need help cos i am crap

ok this is the problem. my lady friend is buying a nice new clio on an s reg, we go to look at it tommorrow to see if it is worth buying. I unfortunately am a bit s.h.i.t when it comes to this sort of thing as when I bought my nova it turned out to have the wrong engine in it. As you can tell I'm not the best man for the job so please could anyone post info on what to look for when buying a car (serious posts only please). Much appreciated :)
