i was just thinking has anyone ever tried out this conversion because the lack of 16v engines nowadays has got me curious. i do favour my 1.2 spi but i am craving some more power lol

id hazzard a guess that there arent any 2.0 spi's about in vauxhall guise. but if there is such an engine id assume its got less then 100bhp as the non fun spec 2.0 8v is a mere 115bhp..... so in essence its better to fit the 1.6 8v mpi engine

There isn't a 2.0 SPI engine, biggest is 1.8 8v(which is about 90bhp,Lol)

Fit a 1.4 SPi engine, 14se head etc, plugs straight into existing loom, and around 85-90bhp should be produced.

It shall also be proved soon ;)

Indeed it does go well.
0-60 is about the same as a Gsi/Gte, its quicker than a SRi. :)

fook me mate, have you still got the whole ashley exhaust setup on there

Adam

Yeah.
2" ashley system, and 4-1 manifold.

I think the only thing stopping it making more power is the ghey rev limit,Lol.

lack of 16v engines :wtf:
well there is a lack of 2.0 16v now, all you get now is the eco tech and i dont wanna go down that road lol

theres still plenty if you look hard enough, try free ads papers for knackered cavaliers/astras that are rotten

Stuart

nothing wrong with ecotecs.. they are less likely to be worn to feck so probalby have more power than a shagged old XE anyway

studaman21

arent they harder to set up tho

Stuart

draper

id say yes, as there basically the same engine

Adam

Yeah, all the conversion bits etc are the same.

People pretty much give away a 2L eco engine, there was one on mig the other day for ?125 i think, with gearbox, ecu, loom etc etc.
And insurance will be a bit cheaper as there a group or two less to insure than a XE.

There not as "bad" as people make out.

136bhp IIRC (exhaust, cams etc etc will kick a HEALTHY 150bhp unlike a shagged XE)

all MK3 cav 2.0 engines are MPi (C20SEH, C20NE, C20XE)
1.8 is the C18NZ SPi engine
1.6 is teh C16NZ SPi engine
also 1.6 16SV??

I know of a 2L eco that made 143bhp on the rollers with just a de-cat and ashley exhaust.
