One of my mates has got a mark 1 3 door, and wants to put 6 x 9's in it but hasn't got a parcel shelf or the supports, he also wants subs an all that, i came up with the idea of putting the sub in the middle, and boxing the 6 x 9's next to the sub, any other thoughts?

6x9's aren't really required if you have a sub and decent set of components. But if he really wants them, how about putting them in the rear quarters (i.e. either side of the rear seats, assuming they're still in)?

I put mine in the rear quarters, with sony 4 inch's hidden in the original speaker place at the front and still got a 15'' sub

Needs a bit of felt tho

Chav?! How rude! I put tears, sweat and even blood into building that!

Na only jokin, dont see how its chav tho, i did think about putting it in the well but i couldnt really be bothered tbh, i have to admit i like them in the well though, ill need to move it sooner or later cus i got a rear strut brace to put in.

Where would i put:

A-Spare wheel
B-Amp?

If i was to put sub in the well?

Ill post some pics in a new thread when it arrives anyway

Oh dear. When will people leatn that 6 x 9's are ****!!

They have no place in a decent install!

Think about it, if you have a sub and 6 x 9's all coming from the rear of a small hatchback? by the time that stupid mass of sound hits your ears its all distorted and sounds ****.

The best tried and tested method is a set of good amped front components and subs in the rear. Tried and tested so many times its an award winning install! trust me!

Absolutely. 6x9s are only any use when used on there own from a headunit.

Sound quality is pants esp as they are aimed at the rear window. Usually quite banging if listening in the rear seats (so Ive been told).

well, i don't really care because i don't want them, my mate does! and my bro's sound install, the blue nova in previous posts, sounds the nuts! second place at PVG in 2004 and they weren't distorted at all, just need setting up right!

They would have sounded better if they were round.

Our demo car has 2 x 15" subs and a three way comp kit in the front.

Simple, not hundreds of speakers, and it hits 154db. The front window has cracked 4 times because of the pressure. Trust me i know about setting up.

I built some boxes for my missus's MR2, for behind the seats, they were run off the headunit and sounded really good boxed.

Have to agree with the above comments though, components all the way!
