Ok, the carb has been on for a few months now, but its performance has deteriorated rapidly, so i have been to my local garage, they have done loads of checks including timing, mixture & its been on the kripton tuner.

They have come to the conclusio that it is worn inside, and i should change it, but i dont wanna, is there anything i can do, or should i just sling it?

Oops, forgot to tell you wots happening with it...

Well, it takes about 5mins to start, which is an pain, for no reason & without warning it will start to kangaroo badly, then stall wen u come to a stop and finaly, sometimes wen u turn it off, it keeps going!! big style bummer!

Any ideas, help or spare carbs u want to send me, let me know!

Cheers again.

You should be able to buy a re-jetting kit, so you can re-condition your current carb.

One question though: has the carb been taken apart, and checked for dirt and general shit inside it?

All it might be is some dirt floating around in the float chamber, or a blocked jet.

I had kangarooing in a previous car, and all it was, was a bit of old gasket floating around in the float chamber, that kept getting sucked into the outlet. It also didn't like starting, but sometimes it was fine.

Do you ALWAYS have the difficulty in starting?

So, basically, if it's not been done, strip it and give it a through clean, then see if that sorts it.
If not, try a re-conditioning kit - or get a SPECIALIST to do it - not the normal garage down the street.

BTW, I've just got one of these Weber's - for ?15 including manifold

Yep...?15....the lad I bought it off was stripping an oldish SR, and her thought it had a old single choke Pierburg on (1B1), so he said I could have it for ?15.......well, he took the air box off, and there it was....and huge Weber twin-choke.......he said ?15, so he stuck to it!!!
That included the manifold btw!

I've got a few bits of him, all cheep - LCD dash complete with gear-box sender = ?20, GSi skirts = ?35 and the carb.
It's also got big brakes fitted, you I'll see if I can get them cheap as well

these all sound good ideas from the lads but get yourself down to the nearest car shop and get gasket paper and make a gasket its the one between the carb and inlet manifold its only paper and blows dead easy ive replaced mine twice now trust me i know and you want try having a dodgy gasket with a bonnetscoop cut in it
