Swirl pots?

What are these all about? I remember a conversation about them at college, what would these do? I seen a few of them made for cosworths, would they fit XE/LET's?

Nova injection tanks have them built in.
They are a small "reserve" pot of fuel, so when your cornering heavy etc and all the fuel goes to one side of the tank, theres a small amount for the pump to pump to the engine.
