i'm guessing some of you might have read my post regarding a blydenstein head, that i purchased for my gte, and have now found out that it's for a big block 1.6...

whilst some of you are probably laughing, the more understanding one out there were trying to help.

the problem now is, what do i do? i bought the head for ?83 plus carriage, then paid out nearly ?90 to get it cleaned so it is now mint!

i have been in touch with the seller and he refuses to pay for the work i've had done... so i can either find someone with a 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0 8v big block engine to sell it to... or i send back and loose out on ?90...

any suggestions will be appreciated

thanks
chris

It is, as in physical size, a big block!

the only thing i can think you mean is 16 16v but even then the head will fit a 16 8v block, as far as i know anyway

what is the head off - is it 8v or 16v

Yeah, Cav 1.6 engines were big block and as such a little bit longer.

IMO the problem I think you will have is that those engines weren't particularly good. You only paid what you did because you thought it was for a GTE/GSi nova. If you are going to resell it making sure you are not implying that it fits a nova, you may not even get back what you originally paid for it.

Obviously you may get around that by putting a hefty reserve on it but that can put buyers off.

this is the broblem, it's a great head and pedigree, but i only paid out the money i did because it was for a nova gte, and that it would a) fit my car and b) i could resell it on and people would be interested...

a couple of people have emailed me about it... but depends on what their willing to pay.

it is 425mm long and as lltn said nova heads are only 400mm... damn that 25mm

1600/1400 16v are small block.
Early cav/mk2 astra i think 1.6 engines were big block, hence why you use there inner cv's on nova shafts for a big block conversion.

you purchased it from ebay? got the link to it?

was it within the past 45 days? if so then you might be able to open an issue with the seller so they look bad without you looking a git ;)

the seller was clearly in the wrong and has offered to refund me the money, what the problem is, is what we do about the ?90 i paid out to have all the work done on the head...

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

i sent the seller, emails asking if it will fit a nova gte and he said yes!

I can't really see that working. The seller has offered a full refund for the head, it's not really the sellers fault that Chimp007 didn't check his item before spending money on it.

I'm not saying it's morally right but I bet you that is what ebay will say.

Looking at the auction, he never said it would fit a Nova GTE.

no, he wants the head back... and i have to cover the carriage
so i'd lose ove ?100

try and sell it on

as for the seller being a gimp
" i have been told that all the 16 heads were the same and what ever the head makes on ebay it will sell thanks for looking"

chimp007_uk
30-08-06, 06:25 PM
thats why i emailed him to confirm that it would fit my engine and he stated it would without any "i have been told it will"...

I would stick it back on ebay, listing the work thats been done etc.
That might get most of your money back.

Should do, with a nice compression ratio to boot.
