ok peeps just a quickie
for all peeps who have a 421 manifold
can i get away with changing the sump gasket without taking off the manifold

i've measured a good 2" gap but how far does the pick up pipe protrude

When i removed mine, im pretty sure it was more than 2", and the sump needed a lot of hammering to remove it(difficult with the manifold on)

take the grill of and use an extension bar and a universal knuckle.

and prob a lot of swearing.

thats how i did mine. oh and give it all a good soak with wd40 about an hour before you attempt it.

oh **** yea ihad no rad fitted at the time. not sure if this will make any difference

A 13mm ratchet spanner is handy for exhaust studs too.

i bought a massive torque wrench in the end. new sump on. job done

i found out it is possible to do it but with limited space but i chose to take the manifold off so i could cake the gasket in jointing compound lol
