These are mark 1 clocks:

Notice the lug at the top of yours...
As for the wiring, unplug that plug and plug the one in from the car.

your fitting a mk2 dials into a mk1 car thats had a mk2 conversion?
The mk1/mk2 have different connectors, the mk2s have 2 extra pins making them a little bigger
You have 2 options - cut the mk1 connector off, then crimp the lengh of mk2 looms that you have to the mk1 loom, most colours are the same so its self explanitary - if not a haynes should aid your.
alternatively you can use a v.small flat screwdriver to slide each of pins out of the mk1 connecting block and feed them in to the mk2 connecting block.
You will still need to splice the 2 additional connectors - one is the rev counter (green n blue IIRC) and the other additional one i cant rememeber!
ive got a 1.0 mk1 nova. i want to fit the white clocks (above) into it but i cant figure out how the rev counter would work. and all the other lights
how do you do this
and ill file down the lug
how does the rev counter work if you dont have 1. my clocks at the mo are standard mk1 clocks with no rev counter. but i want mine to work.
will these also make my car any quicker?

They add 25 bhp for being off a mark 2, and 30bhp for the white dials.

so your 'face lift' mk1 hasnt had the dash 'face lifted'?
If so, its pointless filing the lugs off ,as the mk1 dash clips in, it will never go in easily. Your better off getting a lockwood white dial kit and sum mk1 sr/gte dials. Or do the mk2 dash facelift, its the best mod u can do to the rattily mk1!.
As for the wiring of the rev counter - most novas have the rev counter wire there, its just taped in to the loom, so unwrap some of the tape a few inchs down the loom and you should find the connector, it just clips on to a spade connector on the back of the mk1 clocks that have a rev counter.
cheers loggyboy for the rev counter. ill fit them asap
im not really bothered if it moves about abit. i just want something different to the old dash i have now
dont know if its been facelifted or not
heres the dash now

why dont you just swap them for a set of mk1 clocks . For the rev counter all you need to do is run a wire from the coil to back of the clocks right behind the rev counter. Think some novas actually had the wire already in the loom. Its green by the way.
Just fit mk1 dials, lot more uneccessary pi**ing about fitting mk2 clocks.
But there aren't any white mk1 clocks iirc.
just fit a mk2 dash, they go in easy then ;)

True, but white dial kits are.
allthough, its quite possible that you could swap the speedo and rev gauges out the mk2 SR(i) white clocks in to the mk1 surround.
