When my girlfriend was drivin her car at about 50mph we came up to a roundabout and slowed to around 35-40mph suddenly the engine cut out, it did it a few more times and then the car felt really groggy. After a few miles though it went back to normal. what the fuck is wrong???? its a 1.2 with k&n and bb2 backbox and only 55000 on the clock (d-reg)

thing with this kind of problem is that there are so many things it could be. main area to look at as johnb said - is the carb.
it also depends on how cold it was outside, and if the engine had warmed up to a normal temp or not ?
the only thing you can do ( without taking it to a mechanic to rip u off) is to change things one at time to c if they make a differece. for example, put the old filter back on, or drive very slowly ewhen it is cold untill the engine has some heat. you could clean up the carb also. are the ht's ok? you could have a dodgy wire and sometimes it might run on three cyls.
all of this considered you could just pay an expert, but wheres the fun in that?! :D

True, True...
