View Full Version : hmm cheap new pads.... eeek
i swapped out the pads front and rear that were heavily worn greenstuff. It was making all kinds of graunching noises etc. Im getting a full set of mintex 1144's and new discs in a week or so, so i though id sling in a cheap set of new pads.....
did that.
hmmmm for a start the new cheap pads stink when giving some bedding in death lol. and they fade like feck. I dont know which is scarier, worn "track" pads or new cheap crappy pads lol
oh well aleast its got rid of some clatters
is that what you would recommend then?? mintex 1144's or green stuff
I've been warned against green stuff pads, but thats on big fat heavy Celicas...

mine need changing, i had horrid brake fade tanking it back from an exam in town hill swansea at uni. got down to mount pleasant and i had no brakes :):):) what fun...
stu knows where i mean
fook that mr chimp lol. mind you i managed to fade my brakes goin up there lol.
i ran greenstuff on my omega for a year and never had a problem with fade... mind you i spent 1000 miles bedding them in gently as per the ebc instructions. For the vx im going for mintex 1144's (and for the nova its got 1155's) as no one on the elise and vx forums can fault them... and they need minimal bedding in.

lmfao i bought some mega cheap pads an discs from auto factors for the corsa with the intention of changing them soon after. I bedding them in round donnigton and after two laps i had lost all brakes as was fast approaching a tight corner at 130mph, oh that was fun. I still keep going for another 15mins though.
PMSL phil, that reminds me of llandow last year. I was on Greenstuffs...
Me: Holy ****e, ive lost nearly all me brakes
Chris: Oh ****, best go in then!
Me: nah, lets do a few more laps lol

yeah i had a guy in the passager seat that was throughly scared, dont think he had previously actually been in a fast car. Just turned to him at the end of the straight when i was full chat in 5th an said ive lost all brakes. His face was priceless. No real problems i managed to presuade it round the chicane at over 90mph.
Ive just orded some red stuff pads now anyway, im surprised that not many people dont rate the green stuff pads though ive always used them an so have alot of mates with out trouble, they have always done what i wanted to do. Ive gone for red stuff this time due to extra speed I will be braking from, plus that little bit more weight over the front.

i think mine was more fluid fooked, had ap rear drilled shoes, and grooved front discs, but they had poo pads on the front, going to change it all once i've done the head.
