My MOT is next month, and ive been told that as it is registired as a small car it should have 4/5 seats, and i only have 2 buckets at the front with harnesses, does that mean that the car will fail its MOT as it does not have all the seats and is not a van? Is there any way i can keep the rear seats out AND pass the MOT?

There isnt a major problem as i still have the rear bench and belts i just dont want to be changing them every year!

wont fail!! because it will only be tested on hte seats and seat belts you have. aslong as you take all seat belts out of the back it'll be fine. i've mot'd several cars with not rear seats or seat belts and harnesses.

i however do have one question. my road rally nova has all interior and seatblets as stated in the regs, but is fitted with a cage... will this pass?

IIRC, if you have seats they must have seatbelts. If you have no seats, but the seatbelts remain (as in my old hatch because I never got round to removing the rear belts!) the seatbelts must be fully functional and will be tested. If you have no seats and no seatbelts in the back then thats Ok (nothing to test!).

I put my rear seats/seatbelts back in for the MOT just in case, but that might be a problem if you have harness's. :)

yer i had no seats in mine when the mot was done. but if you have rear seats they need to have seatbelts unless the car was too early etc

as for the cage providing it where it is bolted in is secure then it should be fine! if it is rusty around the area it is bolted to it will fail!

i have 2 fixed buckets and harnesses in my nova and no rear seats. my understanding is if you have seats there you need a fully functional seatbelt or harness, if theres no seat there then you dont need one.

i took out all my seat belts front and rear just to makes sure. and my car passed safely through
