If you've not got a manual choke then you could relocate to the blanking panel.

As for fibre glassing check out the stickies at the top of the page.

Just take your time and dont mix up too much resin as it goes off fairly quick and you wont want to waste any.

id get a second dash/heater vent from a scrapy, that way if it goes wrong it doesnt realy matter.

When i did this to my mk1 dash I moved the heater controls to where the choke would have been, lost the clock & relocated the hazard light switch into the ashtray where the fag lighter was.

looks nice i have the mark 2 tho. how much money do you think al the fiberglass would come to? yeah i read the sticky and thats what gave me the idea to have a go at it. think i will put the hazard switch where the fag lighter was thats a ood idea, what sort of switch did u put in there instead? take it u took all the fag lighter out and got a round switch instead?

just wondering why u put a screen in when u have a flip out head unit??? looks nice tho, where did uget the screen and the headunit from and how much cheers

I didn't keep the tv in the dash, i put it all back to standard just after fitting the alpine headunit. I got a bargin on the alpine headunit cost me ?400 with a kenwood dvd player & a six disc changer. Beraing in mind that was two years ago & tv headunits are 2 a penny now.
If i can remember rightly the screen in the dash was a 7" job, you should be able to pick up something like that for under ?100

tbh you dont need fibreglass - just body filler. It depends on the size of the screen as well and also how high up youre intending to bond it. If youre sticking it where the vents go then it'll stick up about 3.5".

Personally I'd look into relocating the heater controls and housing it somewhere there - simply because anyone can rip it off the air vents if they break in. Thats what I'm planning anyway with my touch screen.

If youre keen on installing it where the centre vents are, remove the vent housing - find a place to relocate the hazard switch. mask off the monitor screen and cut a section from the vent housing the same dimensions as the monitor housing so that its flush and sits in the area cut from the vent housing. Make sure you can get access to the cables and inputs of the screen though. Bond this using a suitable glue (I recommend tiger seal used in bonding body kits - works well on plastic).

Then using body filler, smooth the edges to match the screen housing, sand, prime and spray - remembering to keep the screen masked off.

If the screen comes in a headrest cradle then use this to bond to the vents and make it removeable (for the more security conscious!).

You'll need to find a place to relocate or disconnect the centre vents as cold air will blast the back and after a while it wont do it any good. Relocate the vents and hazard switch in the gap between the bottom of the console and the gear stick.
