if youre goin to change the engine you might as well go all out and fit a 1600.

im in the middle of doing this at the moment but i have opted for a 16v out of a corsa. i had the same engine and box as you. pull the whole lot out. mechanically all the 8valve engines are similar apart from the 1 liter. 1.6 8 valve would fit straight in. just make you get the engine with its box and drive shafts

Don't discount the 1.4SRi engine :thumb:

Is insurance an issue? Engine conversions are usually now more expensive than the original car (that is to say, a 1.2i converted with a GTE engine will probably be more expensive to insure than the complete GTE car).

take it you put the gsi corsa engine in, my mate had one and they are fast, whats the better engine then the corsa 1.6 or the nova 1.6, what are the main differances in the 1.6 and the 1.4sri? will they both be the same to fit ie gear box, drive shafts and how hard is it to do?

No, 1600 engines run fuel injection unless you alter this by fitting carbs. Thus removing a whole lot of wiring if you fit a mini valver (as you have t pish about withe immobiliser from the corsa)

Nova gsi 1600 8v is fuel injected, it WILL fit straight in aswell and IT IS a piece of pish to do :thumb:
