Just a few questions ;) :

What is the recommended limit for over boring the bores on the 1400 block and which pistons to suit?

Has anyone on here done this so they can give me some help on what will be best?

Thanks

in the haynes explains mate it says only to rebore 0.5mm and use pistons 0.020 smaller than the bore to be honest wat it costs id just put a 1.6 lump in.

I would mate but my 1200 B+ Blydenstein head would not work with the 1600 bottom end.

Just fancy building a quick 1400 motor, I'm planning to do whatever work I can myself and rebuild and uprate it over a period of time to spread the costs.

ok take out the cranck and flywheel get the flywheel lightend and the crank balenced to it. get them up rated big end bolts.
oh and use a 1.4 16v bottom end for the flat pistons also the block is harder than nova bottoms

I didn't realise you can use the 16v bottom end with an 8v head!

What work is required and any more details?

Thanks

you can go bigger than the overbore stated in the haynes manual. It gives the same limits for a 1.3 engine (0.5mm) but I had mine taken out by 1.0mm.

I think the haynes manual gives measurments for would be considered maintenance as in reducing ovality of the bore, anything over would be a modification.

Does any work need doing to match them up or is it straight forward?

Any more help would be much appreciated!
