Hi i was just wondering what gearbox a 1.6 gsi nova is fitted with. And the same for a 1.4 sr nova. And which is better cus iam having one fitted along with my 1.4 rebuild for free:thumb: if i want?? and wanted to know if there really any good:confused:

both are F13CR's but depends on the year i believe.

1.6 engines should have the F13 due to their bigger flywheel, F10's wont fit over it. you can check which you have by looking at the top of the box, just under the selector rod, this is where the casing type is cast onto the casing. If you want to know what ratios and final drive are in the box, you need to look at the bottom edge of the end of the cluster, as in this pic,

combinations of letters and numbers found here are;
C3.74, C3.94, W4.18
C= Close ratio, W= Wide ratio, the numbers refer to the final drive ratio

i always thought sr's came with the wide ratio box with the 4.18 diff. and gte's with the close ratio with the 3.74 diff.

depends what they felt like fitting on the production line really with the SR's, my 1.3 has an F10W4.18, the Gte box I have is F13C3.74, and the SRI box I'll be using is an F13C3.94

just wondering if fitting one would be any good and will i see a little bit extra in quicker gear changes etc i really dont know:tard:

not all gsi F13's were CR's

what, was the wide ratio box an option. or were you just lucky if u landed a cr.

luck of the draw.... on the produyction line the monkey saw he had to fit a gearbox, he went to stores and got one... rahter than fitting the "right" one lol
