I've heard about drilling holes into the stand air filter to improve performance.

But ive also heard they have to be drilled into the right places and be the right size.

Could anyone help with this???

i have just done this on a 91 j plate and with a big bore 2 u can definatly tell the difference
all we done was drilled rigth at the edge of the air box making sure not to hit the filter and we done it all the way round and it sounds better,
but the engine warning light comes on now and then ne one know y?
is it cause of the extra air that is being sucked in?
ps i hope i have done it right to!

Erm...no/ Also it works very well on GTE/GSi airboxes and can outperform an induction kit!! 12-15 20mm holes in the base creates a vacuum incresing the torque and bhp by around 10% on a 1.6i!!!

I've done it to mine i found that 8mm holes all over the side of the box is great fit s many holes on the side as poss with out the box falling apart but then take it to your local garage and have the car set up ona cripton tuner or what ever machine they have and you will feel diff in performance and deffenatly the sound..
