gear selection problems

Where is the best place to look for worn out sections of gear linkage. I've replaced the kinked shifter linkage, greased the bottom ball. I can get all the gears but they all seem difficult to select. I can get reverse which is a crsip selection. Any thoughts or help welcome.

I bit that was worst on mine was the first 'ball joint' after the gear lever, its actually housed in a piece of rubber which perishes over time, i chopped it off and welded a piece off another linkage that houses the ball joint but without the rubber bit (see pic) i also replaced the the top 'linkage bar' with a threaded bar and some rose joints (off ebay).
Linkage is spot on now, pretty much no play at all !!

yep drill bit in the housing, then lever over to the left. I'll take another look at the new one I put on, the old one had lots of play in that area!

No, i try'd getting some, i ended up just getting some off a low milage Nova in the scrappy.
