Just thought I'd say a quick hello as I'll probably start mithering people for advice soon !
I'm afraid I must confess that I dont own a Nova ( I know - "so wtf am I here for :)" !!) - I've got an old mini with a C16se engine in that I'm about to try and turbo using a garrett T25 and some bits from MVaux (manifold, fpr etc). Eventually I'll do it properly with low comp pistons etc and run about 10psi using megasquirt ecu, but for now it'll just be low boost - 5psi or so just to get evething working.
Also got another mini I'm building with an 1800 honda vtec engine - but thats got a loooong way to go !
Right, best wind this post up before I go on too much !

Welcome. It's ok, I don't own a Nova either. Neither do 50% of the people here. lol

Welcome to NL... I can envisage a lot of people being interested in how you turbo the 1600 :thumb:

welcome, sounds like you have a nice project there. I can remember seing a 1800 vtec mini on throttle bodies, that thing didnt half shift.

Also i dont own a nova either, got a gay corsa instead

Hi all - thanks for the welcome !
Just updated my profile - I'm from Manchester by the way.
I had noticed there doesn't seem to be a lot of info on c16se turbo conversions that I can find ! Will try and write it up (if it works!)

Hi Rich,

Welcome to the site.
I was under the impression that most mini owners looking to upgrade go for the 2ltr XE or Vtec engine... your C16SE is quite an interesting choice.

I'd imagine its a tad easier as with the Vtec I'm under the impression you need to Clubman the front and extend the wings to accomodate the size of the engine?

My younger brother has a mini estate (traveller) with glass rear windows.
He has a full set of Rayvern hydraulics and some monster 10" chrome mini lights. He was supposed to be restoring it but at the minute its just rusting away. He's removed the sub frames and had those powder coated black.

Hi mate - yeah, the XE / Vtec's are BIG lumps to drop in - I only know of one person that's managed to fit the XE in without extending the front, or fitting a clubman front - a few have done it with the vtec's, but as this shows - even the C16se doesn't leave much space ! lol

As for the vtec project - thats going in a clubby estate (traveller without wood!) - but I'm not the slightest bit bothered about keeping "original looking" - I've used MGTF kit front and back - so the wheels are now 4" or so further out than standard, rear wheels are 6" further back than standard, and front wheels are 2" further forward !!!!!

That looks the same as his at the back end. He was also planning a roof chop and de-seaming. He's got a magik kit (i think) to go on too but I reckon he'll probably sell it all. Such a shame as the hydes were bloody expensive.

You must have extremely thin arms to work on the c16se lol.

Are you putting a clubman front end on the traveller?

Yup - will have clubman front, polycarbonate side / rear windows, one piece door, might fill the sills out a bit with tube cut in half (cheaper than buying a kit!!) :)
