Done a rally yesterday, last stage, took off down a striahgt then into a square right, turned into the right and there was an immediate square left but when we went to turn left it was as if the steering locked or just took a mind of its own and went straight on bounced up over a kerb but luckily there was only grass so we got off it and the steering wheel was sitting off centre - we thought we had bent something when we hit the kerb, so drove through the stage - at the end tca bottom arm everything is fine, wheels sitting fine everything. But there is a bush in the steering coloum about half way down which seems to keep it centralised when turning which had popped out - would this be enough to let the pinion move up and jump teeth on the rack?
pretty scary tbh as we were pushing a tonne through some real hairy places yesterday - dont like to think what could have happened so were counting ourselves lucky it happened where it did.
The car has just had a new quaiffe quick rack fitted and has done a rally and 95% of that one yesterday, plus quite a bit of testing lol so it seems a bit strange
anyone got any ideas as dont want to take the car anywhere untill we find the problem as you can imagine
cheers shane
