View Full Version : Engine conversion-WIP
Day1
Started about 2pm, everything went pretty straight forward, removing rad etc.
3pm-Thunderstorms and pi**ing it down :roll::roll:lol
So that stopped play to about 6pm,Lol.
Managed to get the shafts out with a quick pull, had to hammer one end out the hub tho.
Spent around 1hr trying to release the bottom ball joints, sledge hammer action etc :)
Both of which i assumed would just pop out with a bit of levering action, not bending crowbars etc,Lol.
Engine still isn't out, should be out within 1hr tomorrow.

i've only just started rebuilding my new engine lol
Its a "tweaked" 1400 SPI.
90bhp springs to mind ;) :)

lol, niceone maty, thats about the same power as my new engine :thumb:
I think the 1200 started to cry on the way home today because it knew it was going to get removed.
It started making a high pitched crying sound, never done that before.
Coming from the cam/head.
lol
Day2
Met more trouble to day, with bastid engine mount bolts, completely seized solid.
Took a scaffold pole undo them.
Also got stuck with rain almost all day.
But got there in the end :thumb:

Engine and gear box out in one.
Looks like your were having real fun there mate.
It's a great feeling when every bolt is undone and you start cranking the engine out then when you have a look over the front panel it look so empty.
Grow the hair a tad longer and we could be onto another Burgo here lola tad!!!
Nice work adam, looks like it coming along ok :thumb:
Wheyyy just what i'l be doing tis week :D
i can see mine been a complete pain in the **** as we dont have a craine haha
I've struggled even with a crane tbh,Lol.
In theory its simple, but not with bolts that round off and just crumple into rust dust lol
Kept getting rear mount stuck on brake lines etc,Lol.
But its in :) :)

Just got to finish bolting things up tomorrow, and then turn the key lol
ay some good work there mate! good chioce on the crane ; )
looks nicley painted too!
Cheers mate.
Im hoping the paint stays on when it gets hot lol
i found some aluminum heat proof paint in a shop and thought id try that. so far its been fine! only a couple of bubbles but its still perfect! and my manifold has just started to turn a white now! i sprayed it mattalic orange! looked mad lol
nice rocker cover colour choice!
This paint is supposed to be ok to 105c, i think thats a touch too low for an engine tho,Lol.
I got my engine out 2day.... was pretty hard had 2 lift nova over the engine lol
looking good there ad. we will soon all be meeting in blithfield hey ;)
