Get the sunroof sort, weve just fitted a cage into a GSi and the sun roof wont go back in and we cant find a bolt in pannel any were so its goota be chopped down and re-welded! a right pig because its all ready welded in the car!!

Not 100 percent but i think your on the right line.
With a sunroof the car would need a shorter cage i would think due to the slide and tilt mech.

This would be the only difference i could see. But if you remove this then there shouldnt be a problem.

Could be wrong but just a thought.

Yes, the suroof cage has a shorter main hoop. If you remove the MECHANISM for the sunroof, any cage will fit, but you'll have a hole where the sunroof was1!!

Has any one ever seen a replacment pannel for the sunroof? Could save us a lot of time?

Either make one from polycarb and fit it using some windscreen surround rubber, or rivet a plate over it with some sealant!

many moons ago when i did my old gte shell i used a normal cage in it. all we did at the time was fit flat plates on the floor under the main hoop and gently pull the legs in so they slotted down onto the floor slightly better. Result was the rigidity of the cage and a fully operational sunroof.

Obviously when i did the reshell it was fitted properly again with the correct plates for the feet so it sits higher like normal............

And back to normal mid reshell....
