Ideally you will use the lower compression ratio pistons. That will involve a rebore/engine rebuild as the pistons take out the capacity to 1650cc.

The rest of it could be done by a good trusted garage with a bit of skill for fabrication & I'd have it setup by a rolling road (fuel pressures etc) Dont forget to add in costs of an intercooler, pipework & exhaust manufacture amongst other things.

Not as cheap as it seems but still good value.

good value? ya reckon? why dont you just c20let it faster more fun and probably easier in all fairness.

but run of the mill isnt it, plus the whole front end weight issue and insurance bill :thumb:

I think I'd rather have a turbo'd GTE/GSI than a Let engined one.
Reliability must be a big factor.

Granted LET Novas are fastest.
But it takes no imagination to build one/or want one.

Smallblock has the handling advantage too, something most people pilot a Nova for anyway. Ive driven a few XE Novas & far from happy with them.

its good for 200 allegedly but I wouldnt want to squeeze that much from the T2. I'd keep boost to 10psi or so. It'll be boosting by 2300rpm & be lag free. Thats the best bit about the T2 on a 1600. I'm confident my old one would pull an awesome 6oft time at Pod. Never tried though.

so if i kept the boost at 10psi how much bhp would i see then??also do i defo need the low compresion pistons or is that just the best way to go??thanx rick:confused:

yea i know i think i can drive enough seen as i can keep with stuff like civic type rs n ibiza cupras on many country lanes but u need the power when your in a straght line across a motorway or summat,so anybody know what bhp then? thanx rick:thumb:

you really need to look at the compressor maps for the turbo you want to use. and maybe think of the power you want etc and then you can work out what turbo you want to stay in a non stall area.

i was just thinking of using all the standard parts from the mvaux kit, think its a t2 turbo is it?so if i just use the standard mvaux parts would i need the lower comp pistons?and does anybody know the bhp figures with jus the kit installed and running?thanx rick:thumb:

id guess 150bhp is perfectly feesable on a bolt on (check the fuelling) and go approach

Hopefully I'll let you know soon - got an MVaux manifold, FPR and dump valve that I plan to use with a Garrett T25 on a C16se.
Initially it'll be low boost on standard internals and standard management, but ultimately I'd like to try and use the mvaux pistons (so bored out to 1650c) and run it with megasquirt.
