my 1.4 sri engine blew up there last week so im getting a 1.6 transplant. thing is, i need to know what kind of bhp figure to expect, cos i dont know what car the 1.6 engine came from. are all vauxhall 1.6 engines the same bhp? i know that theres three different 1.4 vauxhall engines all with different bhp so i was wondering does the same apply to vauxhall 1.6 engines...? cheers

If its not out of a nova make sure the geabox is not F16 as these are big block engines.

Plese don't let busses pull out.

Do u have the Fuel pump for it? Or the wiring loom? Ur 1.4 kit will be different I think!

nah its not a 1.6 injection

if its not injection, you`ll have less power than a gte/gsi, and there`s agood chance its a big block lump. u said earlier that it was injection. which is it?

sorry i meant my 1.4 was injection, but this 1.6 isnt. so whats the problem with a big block? what could i do to get the bhp figures up to around the GTE or GSi bhp ? - is there really much of a difference?

If it`s a big block engine it`ll be a right pain in the arse to fit. Best off with a gte/gsi engine and loom/ecu and pump, or carb it (not recomended)

Don't try to put a 1.6 big block in, it is basicaly the same as fitting a 2.0 engine, it will mess up the handling, and cost a furtune to do. It would be chaeper to buy a small block 1.6 gte engine for ?250 and pay to get it fitted than the cost of a big block conversion. :)

Plese don't let busses pull out.
