got a nova sitting here with a 1.4 engine in it , but no head on it.
allthough exhaust manifold is twin down pipes ? 1.6 ?
but there is no lamba sensor in it ? so was this a carb engine ?
judging by the lack of wiring i guess it was ?
allthough it does seem to have a return fuel pipe ?

update , owner said it was orginally a 1.2 , but it now has a 1.6 single point engine in it ... so that exhaust manifold would make sense being a twin down pipe .. but it must still have been a carb ?

SPI isnt carb, it simply uses one injector effectively to deliver fuel to all cylinders.

but should all spi's have a lamba sensor in the exhaust manifold
Matt
yes, all ijection nova's do, wether it be MPI or SPI injection

so it must have been a carb engine .. cheers

No my 1.6i GTE does not have a lambda !
A car should only have a lambda sensor if it was fitted with a CAT, GTE's were pre-cat hence BigStan's reply

SPI is injection, its completely different to a carb, using a vacuum sensor, whereas carb just uses a venturi.
All SPI engines have lambda's.
Think its just e16se(gte) that dont.
Look at the engine code on the block!

GTE's rule... no cat.

Thats beacouse you dont have a 88 Nova GSi. you either have an 88 Nova GTE, a 88 Nova converted to GSI spec, or an Opel Corsa A GSi.
