dunno you tell me.............................will ya?
wil i eve get 145mph out of my standerd xe?
clocks might say it but im not sure if you would, i got 147 on my digi dash in my old standard XE
maybe 110-115hp on a ropey bottom end.
The 1300 head might loose you power.
Standard 1600 would be better.
I remember a novaloader attempting to build an engine with 1600 and 1400 head - he gave up in the end...in theory it would work but there was too much arsing about with compression and fueling etc...
Quicker (and probably cheaper) just to get a gsi engine and mod it up (port polish head, cams chipped etc)
Standard 1600 head has quite low compression iirc, but a big skim will sort that.
mmmm 1300 head on 1600 bottom end... detonations what you need ;)
you'd ahve to back the ign off soooooo far (and you cant do that with a std gte ign setup) that you will lose tons of power plus the fact that the 1300 head is pish comapred to the 1600 item.
I doubt the F13 has 145 top speed in 5th gear. More like 120mph. Just ignore the speedo above 80mph lol
It'd be easier to buy the whole GSi or GTE lump and start from there, then you get 100bhp to start with :thumb:
IIRC the 297 1.3 cam will fit in the 1.6 head.

you should get well in exes of 115 because ive had that out of my standard nova mk1 1.2 and it was still going lol some pric was infront of me so i had to stop. lots of people saying that this is fast? is it?

i was gettin 130 out my gte, its only bin cammed, but the engine could do with a rebuild now tho
here we go again with top speed lies lol....
see the speed in gear calcs in my sig link

Them 1.2's are faster than GTEs :D
I had indicated 120 out of mine.... probably only equated to 95 though lol

Stop talking bolox about top end speeds,
you know it, I know it, and the forum knows it, 115 out of a standard 1.2 we all know how **** the nova clocks are so whats the point in posting utter bolox.

lol wats the point in gettin all moody
its just a car mate im just tellin you whats on my clock, you dnt have to beleve if you dont want tolol
so what if this (now) debate turned to top speeds with nova's with digi dashes AND Sat Navs?
I clocked 145 in my old ropey black GSi on my dads Sat Nav and 139 was on the digi dash?

 lol Can we have another story jackanory
You don't have spout some crap all over the forum, just hope no-one is silly enough to believe you
We've had SR's doing 0-60 in 6.4secs so far and GSi's doing 145mph, maybe you need to tell people who have done XE and LET conversion were they went wrong.

Exactly that. People commenting on things when a)they wernt in the car and b) they dont know the car/spec
Im not saying my Sat Nav or digi dash is/was accurate, but im just saying what it read. :thumb:
In this instance i have no prof, but i do have a video of my old SR doing 118. If someone would be so kind to lend me a bluetooth dongle, ill post it up???

As said before son, go suck egg's. if you dont belive it, dont comment on it.
They went wrong with the weight :thumb: its a well known fact that a highly tuned 1400 or 1600 will pish an XE round a track and 0-60, as less weight to pull ;) there fore faster accerlertion from a stand still, and out of corners.
Not saying that all XE's are crap, as there plain not, just putting my pint across,. If you dont like, you know where the door is.

For a start don't call me son as i'm probably older than you.
Wouldn't say that it was a well known fact that a 1400 is quicker from 0-60 than an XE or LET, certainly not one i've ever heard before. The torque difference obviously means nothing?
Wouldn't mind if you had a good point but most of what you type is bull **** and may mislead people.

Believe me if my rather nicely tuned SR was as quick as an XE i would be laughing, and wouldn't that defeat the object of doing the XE conversion?
Rant over *STOP*

It wont tho,Lol.
A big block engine and box isn't massively heavier than a small block, only like 30ish Kg iirc.
With decent suspension setup etc, an XE Will corner.

My engine is modified and at the minute i can only just keep up with my dads 155 Alfa, so you got no hope against an XE lmao!

This tread is brill i've laughted all the way through reading it? My corsa vans got a 1600 8v gte lump in completly standard and that thrashes cossies, LET's even had a skyline the other night down the A5!! YA WEEEEEEEEEP!! every singal car is differnt and every hill is steeper? Thats the differnce!!
I can get my speedo almost around to the pin again, which indicates a healthy 155 MPH. I have plenty of witnesses who have seen this feat just before braking at Avon Rise at Combe!
Im not however going to claim that is how fast i was going, that would just be silly!
You gotta laugh at the people who believe a nova speedo lol
my nova sri clocks said it did 130 but the needle would go past the 130 mark but when i had it on the dyno the wheels only did 109 miles mph in 5th on the liniter thats without wind resistance and extra drag
story 2
a friend go pulled over in his 1.2 nova by the police as he had just been thru a speed trap thingi and they asked him why he had been doin 18 mph in a 30
but his clock said he was doing 30
so i find it hard to belive what a clock is sayin now
but if where all gloting
i did 177mph on (sat nav )in a 1.0 nova up a hill with the back off the car full of lead
only mods it had was an electric supercharger of ebay and the mirrors folded back
lmao phil
lots of shat navs become incredibly inaccurate up hills since your covering a much shorter distance in less time due to the rise therefore its going to "think" your travelling faster ;)
anyhoo. i didnt write the speed in gear site for nothing you cretins.
lol i was takein piss wi that btw but thanks 4 explainin it

Well you know you aint doing 30 past a speed camera in a nova because everyone else seems to be passing you lol

A sat nav will think your going SLOWER than you actually are up a hill stu lol

bottlethroddy
i thought that just didnt want to start argueing with him as ya know how it goes lol

WTF indicated 30=17mph, you have serious speedo problems there, lol.
According to Stu's site my speedo is about 1mph out at 30mph.
