Posted a while back re this - as part of my 1.2 to GSi conversion, i need to replace my fuel lines however am having difficulty getting some.

Can anyone suggest an alternative that is safe and easy to fit as I cant really afford to buy a brand new set from Vauxhall (dont even know if I can get any!).

Alternatively anyone got any that can sandwich between some cars and bubble pack and post?

prepared to pay postage (pm me)...

go to B&Q get a roll of 8mm copper pipe ?10 approx. Then cut/bend/connect as appropriate ;)

you only need to do the supply line, the return can remain as carb spec as its not under pressure.

8mm copper from B&Q - cool.

Do I need a special tool to bend it so it doesnt kink?

Also how to I attach it to the tank - heard it needs to be flared?

bend by hand, very gently.

as for fitting to the tank, jsut rubber hose and jubileeee clips. double up on them if you really are paranoid lol

Well the SPi ones wouldnt be strong enough and 1.4 MPi's (ie SRis) had metal ones - the only plastic ones suitable will be from GTEs

Why?
I know plenty of people running the SPI lines for valvers etc.

the teflon liner and stainless braid mean that its hard to get a perfect seal on a pipe, thats why they have those expensive fittings on the ends with olives and compression fittings. You can use jubilie clips but you need to make sure what your fitting the pipe to has a flared/bulbous end.

quite simply because the spi lines are intened for a low pressure fuel pump, they may work, but the spec isnt up to the standard that would be expected.

re bulbous ends (ooer!)

I'll check the GTE tank I have to see it it does - I think it does...

Be carefull not to tighten to hard on copper pipe, because it will crimp and you'll end up with petrol pi$$ing everywhere!

Go with what stuart said B&Q 8mm copper. I done my cousins 2.0 8v nova with it its about ?10-?15 depands were from and you'll get to have plenty of goes because you get about 8meters! we dinn't have a single problem, better than standard ones!!
