Just picked myslef up a tidy 1.3 sr, but still has standard tape player, which i doubt sounds great. So i have a nice panasonic cd player to go in. Now the last car i put it in, a suzuki swift, it just swapped straght in, no rewireing, or anything. Is it going to be that easy in the nova? Or am i going to have to rewire anything? Also is it the u shapped tool i need to get the old thing out?
cheers for any advise

yes you need the U key.
but u can use an old coat hanger, the metal wire ones.
and as for the wires, it should just be a straight swap if its a standard headunit. but never know wires could be cut.
you can also use some thing lond and thin for removing the unit to either prise out the sides or a knitting needel to push the pins in down the proper holes on the front
:D :D
also to make it hold memory you have to swap the to powers iirc.

Yes ya do, on your unit you need to swap the yellow and red wires over. they are on bullets though so its really easy!

OK, hopefully picking it up later, so will have a go.
cheers
I borrowed a U key from a motorworld, although they can be bought for about 3 quid! If you have a ISO plug you will be in luck if not, this is how I wired mine (non iso plug F plate car)

Just thought id le yas know, thats the hardest headunit change iv done. ****ing thing wouldnt come out! In the end had to rip the front of the tape player, and bend the cage with the unit still in it! Was piece of piss after that though.
Thanks for the advise
mat
lmfao, my saloon had a std tape player in it. I just found the biggest screwdriver I could find and battered it to death then ripped it out and took half the gash Mk1 dash with it lol
