im changing my 14sr engine to a 1.6 8v either gte or gsi.
are the e16se and c16se both small block? also ill be running this engine on t40's and cam etc which i have on my 1.4.
are they both the same power or is one better than the other?
cheers
Both are small block.
Only Late GSI's had c16se.
All GTE's and most GSi's had e16se.
E16se has-
Air flow meter, distributor, no lambda, no cat, and the ecu is in the engine bay, uses Bosch management
C16se has-
MAP sensor, DISpak,Lambda,Cat, and its ECU is inside the car, uses Multec management.
They are both very similar power, C16se slightly more.
I'd go with a e16se, plenty about, whereas you dont see many c16se's.

i dont mind which i have but just wanted to check that they are basically the same engine if running on my setup

edit: too late lol
I'd find a e16se, and rebuild it, most have probably done 150+ k miles by now(around 16+years old)
