Plastic primer for starters.
Halfords do an offer 3 for 2.
Colour wise... I would probably say the white.
yeah both the grey primer and white primer are for plastics!

Well I've done some airbrushing recently and used grey plastic primer... when I put the top coat of red on it looked cack.. was really dull.
So i stripped and re-coated with white.. final red was nice and bright.
I'm guessing it'll be the same principle... saying that my old Jamacia yellow nova used grey undercoat.
I've not been too helpful really have i
Whenever I painted anything on my old Novas - both Mexico Red - I used grey primer. Tried it with white to begin with and although it looked ok in normal light, the paint came up looking more like Magma/Flame red in bright sunlight, and looked orange when under street lighting! Patchwork Nova lol
Having said that, Mexico Red isn't exactly a bright red to begin with, and it had probably faded a little over the years as well. Still, the grey primer gave better matched results.

I'm pretty sure if you pop to halfords then on their paint charts it tells you which colour primer to use.
cheerz, its flame red im spraying, so will it come out orange with white primer?
ive just sprayed a few coats of grey primer in the garden, and left a nice pattern on the grass!
shall i pus the red on, or change it to white primer over the top?
cheerz!

If you've been wet+drying the primer as you go, 10 is more than fine. I'd go for 5-10 coats of paint depending how thinly you do them, then about 3-5 of laquer.
right, well ive used up the whole can of primer, probably about 15 layers, just sprayed the first layer of red, looks a bit bubbly and runny?
Did you sand the primer nice and smooth before you painted?
used to much to start with spraying is a pain in the ass trust if iwas you mess about with some thing like a plasic bottle untill you get the nack then do your skirts, leave it over night for primer to dry as least, (why my car has been so long) and use very light coast and build up untill total cover. when you spray a big aera press move let go and point away then change direshion, will help keep even coats and no running

Also dont get too close.
The primer is easy but top coat is a little harder.
If your not happy with the finish at any stage then you'll need to cut it back as painting over it will just make it worse.
Use grey primer for the red.
15 coats blimy thats a lot lol, as said make sure its nice and smooth I hope you scuffed the plastic before hand with a red or grey scotch???
when spraying the base colour fella, Make sure you DO THE EDGES FIRST!!!
Then apply the first coat, make sure them edges get a good coating this will help stop it from flaking etc.
When spraying a base and laquer, the base will not need to be applied wet as if you was spraying with a 2k paint. I always do a light duster coat so the paint has somthing to grip to, then a second coat to cover, followed by a thrid to cover and then a final coat. MAKE SURE THE EDGES ARE DONE! then do the clear coat. providing the base is nice and SMOOOTH.
Oh, start the spray a couple of CM before the item to be sprayed keep a nice smooth spray cover the full item and off the trigger again, then move down very slightly and keep it parrell to what you did. follow suit and keep doing that. DONT Sparay it in all directions as it the paint will look patchy. if u need any adive pal gis a Pm or ring us u've got our number.
on the sub ject what flatting when talking about painting ?
erm...
sand the primer?
well, noooo, i just sprayed the layers of primer, allowing to try, then spraying again until i used up the whole can, then left it over night, then just sprayed the first layer of red stright ontop, i didnt sand, and i also went in every direction, this is my first proper attempt
i dont exepct them to match the skirts anyway as the skirts are faded
when i have time to put another layer on, ill spray in one direction
cheerz lads!
