I'm planning an in car pc (eventually) but need some help -

I recently bought a Veba 7" colour TFT/LCD monitor (model AM700mbs).

Its not touch screen - just a standard monitor...

however I cant work out how to wire it up to my pc...

It came with an 9pin din to wire cable (looks like an S-video cable but
it isnt an s video cable!) with 1 black wire (ground), 1 red wire (12+),
1 white wire (remote), 1 brown wire (reverse light) and 3 female AV
connectors - RCA yellow (video), RCA red (audio), RCA white (audio).

The pc I've purchased to use in the car is an HP e-vectra p3 with a standard VGA connector at the back.

My question is how do I connect the monitor to the pc!?

I've been advised to use a VGA converter such as this one -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VGA-converter-...QQcmdZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VGA-converter-adaptor-cable-RCA-S-video-to-TV-display_W0QQitemZ170014128795QQihZ007QQcategoryZ41 999QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

but the svideo bit isnt svideo so the pins arent right.

Do I just need a vga cable with 3 RCA leads like the High definition TV's use or is there another one?

can anyone help?

Whats on the screen is composite, whats on the PC is VGA, you need a box to do it, not an adapter, looking at ?30-50 at a guess.

I'll have a look for you.

cheers - I went to Maplin and bought a thing called Averkey Lite for ?40. It lets you play games from pc to tv - but its not very good. The quality on a normal tv is very poor (cant read the words even on the lowest res) - on a 7" monitor at 480 resolution it's a bit better but not much...

For the price I payed for the monitor and the above dongle I may as well have bought a full on vga monitor.

If you'd have asked, thats what I'd have told you sorry mate.

Does the PC have any expansion slots?

If it does then buy something cheap like a pci radeon (7000 model or better) or geforce (mx400, fx5200 or better), with tv out allready on it.

Tell maplin the averkey is broken and you'll probably get a full refund.

This reminds me of when I converted a psone lcd to vga lol.

Maplin gave me full refund.

PC isnt expandable unfortunately so I'm going to bid on a VGA tousch screen instead...
