I have been working on the stereo wiring in an MkIII Astra. The ISO plug fixing has been chopped off leaving a mass of bare wiring. I have isolated the speakers by adding each speaker wire to a chocolate box connector (all 8 wires are conected to this block, and are identified) I have found the black earth wire from the Astra and connected it to the stereos earth.I have found the Astras live and connected the ignition and permanent live from the stereo to it. The stereo works when the ignition is at position 0. When you move the key to position 1, 2 or 3 the stereo switches off. Can anyone explain why?

stereo is working on a negative switch.

you need to change the power leads round.

you basically reversed the ignition switch for the stereo like you do on alarm L.E.D.S wire it so only come on when ignition is off.

try disconnecting the ignition wire from the 12v supply for a start.

also is it a aftermarket headunit, or standard head.
