Not 100% sure, but i'd say its a manifold off job.

mate i reckon you can leave it on well depending on the size of the manifold havent worked on a calibra yet. just seperate it from the exhaust

hopefully can do it, mate couldn't do it on his cav, due to sub frame being in the way so couldn't slide sump out...

no sub frame on nova, so i though i might be able to, and dont really want to **** about with the exhaust, manifold to rear pipe is all one piece, with just a flexi joint on it, might give it a go any way

The way I had to do it was to take the manifold off the head and slide it off the studs and then it would drop down far enough to slide sump off. Reckon you've got no chance without.

Use an ecotec rubber gasket to replace it as well :thumb:

Think they are. Should be a brown baffle plate with the rubber gasket fixed on. You need to bend one of the prongs sticking out of the baffle plate down (compare to XE one and you will see). Also need slightly shorter sump bolts or a couple of washers on each bolt to stop them bottoming out as new setup is slightly thinner.

does the rubber gasket cure the problem once and for all then?
