I was reading the article about fitting a 1.6 engine in a Nova, on this site.
What I'm wondering is, can't you just get a 1.6 carbed engine from an Astra or Cav?
These are dirt cheep (certainly much cheaper than a GTE/GSi engine), BUT, are they as easy to fit?
What about the gear box? (the flywheel/bell-housing problem)
Can you fit a box from an Astra or Cav, on to a Nova? (say the one that could come with the engine)
I'm asking because I may do that very thing, and as in the article, I didn't want to arse around with fuel injection and ECU's
At first, I'd just stick with the standard carb that comes with the engine, but at least I'd have 90PS in standard form.
I've seen loads of Cav 1.6 engines for sale, for around ?40 - ?80, and my current engine (1.3 SR - in mint condition), only cost me ?40, so it seams a pretty cheep way of getting more power.
What do you guys think?
