The SRi started griding last week and i couldnt be ****d to buy new pads for brakes that i regularly over heat anyway - so as the 288mm discs i bought for the old 16v have been sat doing nothing for a year, i thought id use them.

Where are they???

There they are - hiding behind the wheels:

Not a huge difference in caliper size, but they felt nearly twice as heavy

Calipers may not be much bigger, but the discs bloody well are!

Bend those dust shields out the way :)

Now you cant really miss them - just need to clean the wheels!

One thing i did notice is both Outer CVs boots are shot which is ANOTHER job to do... never ending :(

Ive heard so many stories about V6 brakes! im gona stick vectra V6's on mine when its done, but some people think the rest of the system cant cope with the big pistons?? What they like!!

Yup, V6 give you a long pedal, due to much bigger pistons.
Turbo 284 brakes are what you want.

0WIth a freshly bled system with decent fluid there should be no long pedal - i certainly dont feel it - infact its just right, not too much to bite harshy, but enough to give u nice feedback.

Big chap - they were standard SRi (& GSi) 236mm vented ATE brakes.

16v (256mm ATEs) look like this under the MOs

Lmao. check the Sri pads, they certainly needed changing.

Did the 16v brakes just bolt on the nova wheel hub thing? or did you need to make brackets, and why do the 16v disks have som many hols?

Yes the 16v discs & calipers bolt staright on to the nova hubs, you just have to either remove the dust sheild or hammer them back.

Nice one loggy - looking good :thumb:

not only do the 16v ones bolt straight on, but so do the v6/turbo ones.

Pedal feel and locking up were always problems with my v6, my drilled grooved 16v ones were much better.

Im fittiing a proportioning valve to my system and a hydraulic hand brake but didn't want to fit the vectra v6's if there not very good. what do you let think, stick with the vectra v6's brakes??

if i were fitting anything bigger than "valver" (astra 256*24mm ATE) brakes then id personally fit a bias pedal box as a matter of course to get big brake pressure and good pedal.
