Hi everybody i'm new to novaload and i have a problem. I picked up rotten 1.2nova diamond for cheap with GTE interoir,sr rims, skirts electric windows and a carb engine. The engine had twin downpipes so 1st i was thinking it's not a 1.2 and the man thought it had a 13sr engine fitted but wasn't sure, i've the engine out and can't find eng. code and the size has been grinded of the block probably because the engine was never declaired. Is there any way of finding out which it is?
Also I'm putting the engine into my 1.2spi, were does the black/yellow wire for the automatic choke go?

Look on the front of the head, it will have 13(1300cc) or 14(1400cc) stamped in it.
If no ones fitted a 1300 head on a 1400 block, it will be a 1300 if it has 13 stamped on the head.

on the front of the head should have 1.3 or 1.4

Find the part number on inlet manifold.
I've got both 1300 and 1400 inlet manifolds, so could compare the numbers on mine with the ones on yours.
The number is cast into one of the branches of the inlet. Begins with a 90 iirc.

The number on the manifold is 90232864

Does this match any of the numbers on your manifolds?

1300Sr inlet that is.

So assuming no ones swapped the head or anything, its a 1300.

if i had choice between 1200 and 1300 id pick 1200, its got a shorter stroke, and all the 1300 ancillaries can fit on the 1200 as i did once, e.g. skimmed 1300sr head, twin down pipe doesnt mean 1300, some one could have changed it, its not very hard to do!
thats just my oppinion anyways

I just wanted rid off the spi in favour of carb, and it seemed a shame to leave it lying in garage, i needed a quick increase in power(if only 20bhp or so) and cheap as the car's only gonna be out for 2 more months before being stripped down over winter. The new engine is a big improvement over spi, it rev's far better and it has more power higher up the rev range, unlike the spi which seemed to have same power at 2500 and 5000rpm. I am thinking of keeping this engine after the nova is rebuilt only tunned to keep her light.
