Only problem should be rust.

lol, snap, mines even worse than that!

But due to it being a track car, i filled the gap with no more nails and painted over it! lol

I wouldnt wanna be in a car with rust in that much of an important place for tootling to the shops, let alone hammering round a track!
Get a plate in there for sure (both of u!)
thats a structural part of chassis very close to major suspension components, huge MoT failure and very unsafe.

thats in a bad spot there but a plate should do it .. when you getting it mot'd ? any thing else bad with the car ?

Get a wire brush and a small hammer and knock out as much of it as you can. They grind back on it so all the rest has been removed. Get it patched PROPERLY and under coat it a few times. Jobs a goodin. I've seen first hand, Nova Chassis Legs collapsing and its not pretty. They catch big wheels in the arches and lock thm up. Not nice at 60mph I might add.

To be honest this is really the only place that things are this bad. The rest is all pretty solid! odd!

My very clean merit had it in the same place, despite being fine 99% of other structural places.
it only takes 1 bad seal, a scratch to bare metal, missing patch of underseal etc and 1 spot can soon appear.

sounds quite lucky then .. although its a bugger but at least its only in one spot.. when's your mot?

Typical rust spot & the 1st place my GSi ever needed a patch at MOT time.
Damn chassis legs! Just make sure you proof it well afterwards or it will come back worse.

Dont leave it to the garage/welder.

i learnt my lesson about that the hard way ( ever heard of ?200 to change a water pump on a mini? ) thats why i learnt to do everything myself!
