Hi i have the early c20xe engine in my nova, and its idle is very jumpy from a cold start, up and down +/-200 rpm. if i drive and stop it stalls, once ive been driving for a while it seems fine, little bit of rev counter movement on idle but thats it, i have been out a bought and fitted a brand new idle control valve recently which cost ?140 so it aint that. any ideas ppl?

Try replacing the water temp switch. (the bosch one on the front of the engine underneath the thermostat.

Or read the ecu light flashes (have a look on mig for direction on this...)
