within the first two years on having to provisional/full licence, if you get 6 points its a stright ban correct?
or is it 7?

6 I believe
6 points. And well deserved I'll bet.
Actually thats not true; if you get 6 points in the first two years your license gets revoked - you're not banned but your license is effectively taken away. To get your license back you have to retake your test, so you only lose your license for as long as you have to wait for a test. Theoretically, if you can get a re-test the next day you can get your license back almost straight away!
then good luck getting reinsured lol
Errr, no
The court decides whether you can re-apply immediately, or if you should be banned. If you get done for speeding twice, the police recommend you get a ban....
some ppl are aloud to keep there licenses on 6 points up to the courts its the same with 12 points after 2 years if the court lets you and on what you are gettin punished for. Was on Traffic cops last week lol :D
On the subject of points... Do you get points and a fine from speed cameras/traps or is it just a fine?
Lucky Luke!

i managed to rake up 12 points in 18 months of passing my test. They will let you get away with no ban if you have a good reason. I'm not proud of it, but it happened none the less.
my mate got 6 points on his scooter and court allowed him to drive a car as long as he didnt get anymore points, so he used to say his mum was driving when he got caught speeding lol she got banned before even passing !lol

points and fine. (unless it goes to court and you/ your solicitor works miricales to get you off with just a fine (or nothing if hes really good or they slip up))
First time round you get the offer of that awareness course thing now thought don't you? Although you still have to pay a "course admin fee" which oddly enough is something like ?60 or ?80 quid lol

thats a desgresionry offer that can be given to any1 at anytime (ie rarely)
simple solution, dont get point's...
i got point, 3 points... not for speeding etc..
but for a bald tyre, was just below the legal limit.. was stupid of me, **** happens, always check my tyres now though

Banning, all Very confusing.....ill try not to be banned, but cant be helped sumtimes.
Like if ur my mate in his RST, after being seen speeding by cops, he let them catch up, drive for 50 yards, then put his foot down, and do the same thing twice lmao, got away with it went home, then they follwed reg up on comps, n found his house where he was ripping up and down the streets, after stopping, he got dun for speeding, n not stopping etc......Oh and Possesion of the good ol Charlie, hes known for it where he lives, (no names or locations mentioned) hahaha
Wat did he get, 15 month driving ban, but after being in prsion for few weeks b4 being baled out, n then found wasnt his etc etc somehow lol
gets it bak next month, bet he cant wait
He's learnt his lesson now tho, no longer deals, or does it in car or travels with it in car, still drives like a maniac tho, wat do u expect when u got a 224bhp ish RST to play wit, especially when ur best mates have em too.
Sorry to go slightly off topic there too :)

well a month ago i was caught doing 123 on marlow bypass. atleast i know my digi dash works coz thats what it said i was doing. i am just waiting for a court summons and then its bye bye license and hello legs for a year or two
you dont wanna get caught round my way i got done doing 70 on a 60mph dual carriage way and midnight and they gave me 5 points and ?220 fine. very harsh if you ask me
your mate sounds like a co ck
Agreed. Knob end of the highest degree!
As for points from speed traps, yes you do! I got mine from a front facing Truveo camera in a MWB Peugeot Boxer on the A43 doing 110mph at 2am coming back from Leeds. I was completely knackered and just didnt have any perception of how quick i was going! The funny thing is i got a pic of me leaning over the steering wheel looking shocked from the flash and you could almost see the bags under my eyes! The lucky thing is the speed registered was 90mph, so no instant bannage happened!
Suffice to say i wasnt annoyed because i fully deserved it, but i gave my boss an earful over the stupid hours I was doing! Leaving from Newbury, driving to leeds and doing a days work, and then driving back again. look at a map and see how stupid that is! Think i left shortly after that to start my business, and my employees get a nights stay on jobs like that, like it should be!!
sounds like a lot of traveling in one day on that job mate!!
i got caught speeding once, he didnt give me points or a fine, he said i'll let you off this time (fine and 3points) but he said if i get caught speeding again i'll loose my licence..?

Ever so slightly off topic...
I just got a quote for a T reg WRX scooby.
?1100... i thought that was pretty good.
I'm 24 think I put 5 years no claims but actually I have 6.
Plus the SP30 and no tracker (which I would buy if I brought a WRX)
loggyboy
25-07-06, 11:52 AM
not bad, just make sure you buy a UK car.
?1100 is a bit steep IMO, but Imprezas always were quite expensive on insurance
And buy the STi, P1 or 22B as there way better then a WRX :thumb:
P1 & 22B ahve 276bhp as oppose to the average 207bhp of most scoobies :D

Lol I'm not gonna buy one... not yet anyway.
No chance I've spent all this money on my nova just to swap it for a bit of tat. :)
They wanted 2 grand to insure my younger brother.. so was just making a point.

215 bhp are the uk models early jap wrx's have 240 as standard which went up to 276 when they facelifted it stis have more bhp over the standard but engines need rebuilding :p more often
also insurance is more on the sti p1 etc , and an 22b is at least 20k to buy lollol
sorry for being completely off topic
Imports are more expensive to insure, and some companies won't touch them with a barge pole. Neither will some garages, and that includes dealerships!
rednova
27-07-06, 10:17 PM
most insurance companies will nowadays due to the large number of them, i know some wont tho - i know dealerships can be funny about imports nissan and mitsubishi seem fine but subaru were a bit sketchy - lucky i live near revolution! theres not a big difference in insurance price tho but on the plus side imports are generally in better condition, which outlays the extra costs if any:thumb:
back to topic - if you get caught speeding its your own fault as your getting "caught" just think of all the times you get away with it n think yourself lucky!

my m8 got 6 points in his first year and he ent got nothin, no ban or fine
theres not a big difference in insurance price
UK Impreza WRX ?955, Import Impreza WRX ?1860; UK Supra ?598, Import Supra ?1680; UK GTO ?602, Import GTO ?1767; UK S14a ?625, Import S14a ?1765... Thats just a couple quotes I've come up with today. The GT4's don't have such a bit gap between UK and import but its still a good couple hundred.

28-07-06, 06:29 PM
ah its all to do with personal situation - if that was the case i would have bought a uk model instead i payed 1000 for my wrx jap import, if its cheap enough id go with the jap - just because of the better car you get just my opinion anyhoo
Phil
my mate has recieved 6 points in his first 2 years, when he got his last 3 points the DVLA/police didnt take his license, however he got stopped the other day and his car towed away so hes in the sht !!

what has he got to do to get it back?
dunno, this all kicked of only last weds and i dont actually talk to him that much, he will have to re-take his test for sure it just what the police/courts decide to do with him regarding the fact he was driving on a learner license and i dont think him simply saying he didnt know will stand up in court
