yes another problem, well im not sure if ben had the set up like this, but it idles at 2k i want to lower it, i think its that any way or could it be the throttle cable is to tight and is actually revving slightly could that be the cause or am i wrong?

how do you lower the idle then if its not the cable?

help apreciated again please, lew :thumb:

inbetween the carbs there is a screw that goes throgh the body of one carb and pushes down the linkage. as you look straight down you will see it. turn that clock wise for faster idle, anti clockwise for slower, only turn it half a turn at a time, give it some revs then let it settle.

the tempreture is on the left hand side of the inlet manifold as you look down on the engine. it?s a brass pin type thing and your spade connector on the end of the blue wire will slot straight on it.

i?m home tomorrow, if your still struggling give me a call. how did it drive? what do you rekon to the box?

ah nice one. well i didnt have chance to realy test the box lol when i got petrol it broke down sort of, due to a poor earth again lol so am going to sort the earths out now. and i need a new gearlinkage etc cause mine is so sloppy etc its unbelievable, the noise of it is amazing ben!! could not believe it! i only gave it a little bit of stick that was when there was an escort up my a**e with body kit on etc, it soon left him! the engine just wanted to carry on revving, i didnt take it too high thou as it still needed to warm up. but i will take it fr a good drive in a minute.

Have you aligned the linkage correctly when you fitted the new engine/box?

well i thought i had but looks like i havent, am i right in thinking that i need to undo the bolt near the linkage then just move the gear stick forward a touch?

or are you on about a different alignment of say the actuall linkage?

Put box in neural.
Undo the clamp bolt, remove the small plastic screw from the back of the selector housing, turn the selector fork i think its anti clockwise hold it there, then insert a 4.5mm drill bit into the hole(where the screw was), it should slot into a small hole.
Have someone hold the gearlever over to the left, again the stop in the 1st/2nd gear area.
With it held there, tighten the clamp bolt back on.
Remove drill bit, refit plastic screw.

It is quite simple to do, think i may have made it sound difficult tho.

Haynes gives a good guide on how to do it.

Its the housing on the top of the box, that the selector fork comes out of.

Is your clutch cable adjusted correctly?
IF its not, sometimes that can stop you getting reverse.

Can you get reverse with the engine turned off?

its like the gear stick wont go over to the right enougth so im just going to chuck it back where it was, just have to live with a dodgey second gear, i carnt be ar**d spending loads of time trying to adjust it right cause i have to do it again when i get paid. actually i might get someone to fit it instead

yer clutch cable is fine already adjusted that.

first time I adjusted a nova linkage I had the same problems, just keep trying it moving the gear lever into a slightly different posistion each time until you get it right.

yer am going to go out and do it now, i carnt realy get to the bolt from the top though cause of the carbs, but i hope i can take 2 of the trumpets off and get my arm down there.

Mike

trumpets come off well easy, but its easier to go underneath to get to the gear linkage :thumb:
