its on the inlet manifold lew, on the drivers side inlet tract. In your other thread its detailed more.

A blue wire with a psade connector on the end of it!

You sure thats not blue/yellow(it can be hard to see the yellow if the wires dirty)
The other way its next to would be blue/green.

Both oil pressure wires.

black with yellow stripe is not used anymore, cut it off and tape it up. all it does is send an ignition live to the old carb. if you trace it downthe loom it goes nowere, just picks up a live when the ignition is on.

Hang on, are we talking about water or oil temperature here??

SRlew

dont worry bout that mike,

my battery died over night..?
what could of caused that?

my central locking doesnt work at the minute. and there was a blown fuse which is for the head unit and the instrument clocks.
and i had an earth from the battery to the engine.

could any of those caused it to drain the battery?

cheers lew

the battery should earth to the shell NOT the engine?? and the engine should earth to the shell seperatly??

**edit: my bad, im thinking of the 1.0 loom where it earths to the shell only!!!**

would that have caused the battery to run flat?

ahh yes thats right, it's an ignition live which warms up the daft bi-metalic spring in the choke housing.

as for the flat battery, did the fuse blow overnight? sounds like something earthing out causing a current drain. Having an earth direct from battery to engine shouldn't cause any problem, as thats how some SRI's are wired instead of having the earth strap from the gearbox to the body.

yer i wouldnt have thought it'd be a problem iv now taken that one off and fitted a proper earth cable from its own point on the body to the manifold.

got told i needed another earth by an electrician so thats done.

since i removed that earth from the battery to the engine the battery hasnt drained over today and is still a healthy battery.

could that earth from the battery to the engine caused the fuse to blow for some reason?

NO just went to start it again and guess what the battery was struggling. somthing must be draining this f**ker big time, its a bigger battery than the one found in a normal nova aswell.

also as the fuse for the stereo and instrument panle is blowing, could there be maybe 2 wires touching or somthing behind one of them? and would that cause the battery to go flat?

help apprieciated, realy need to sort this problem out. lewis

if all your wirings ok, try fitting the alternator off your old engine. i never had problems but it's worth a try

sounds like something is definately shorting out, tripple check any wires you've disturbed in the past month, making sure they're not arcing out and that they're in the right place. is the battery new or second-hand?, either way it could just be a dogdey battery.

battery was baught brand new mate from halfords. but think i'll check all the wiring behind the stereo and digi dash etc get then go from there.
