nasty - If Irecall the Nova received a 2 in the ncap testing for safety. A roll cage is better than nothing but at the end of the day if you drive sensibly you dont need one.

It also depends on what hits you and where...

given the fact that we are looking at a vehicle that would have, in all likelyhood, been designed in the late 70s, IMO its not all that bad at all!

^^ true, obviously its nowhere near the standards of todays cars but considering its size its not a bad rating

A lot safer than stuffing it in a Citroen AX no doubt.

And that white one (above) looks well bent!

Quite, compare the Nova to other cars in the same class from the same era - Fiesta, 205, Uno, Metro - and you realise that they're not all that bad!

lol, thats what ive always wondered, if you were to buy one of these "show cages" do they hold us aswell as other cages in the event of an accident? Are they just poorer quality materials or quality of build or what?

Hedge actually.

ncap have only been around since 1995. I work in the motor industry and ncap celebrated it's 10th anniversary in 2005 so it is highly unlikely they have ever tested a nova and/or published any results.

Stuart

ncap collected a load of older cars up for giggles testing a whlie back. the kensington 100 (metro) managed a two star with a corssed out 2nd one... infeering that hell you dont want to be in there.

best ask for some pics of peoples heads who have had crashes in cars WITH rollcages.... (id rather hit a soft roof panel than a 1.4 inch CDS tube.)

if ur gonna get a rollcage for 'safety' u need to get harnesses and helmet too.

alternatively spend the money on the best tyres, brakes, and a skid control course. (and maybe harnesses too)
