ok .. anyone got a full interior set forsale ?
also need XE drive shafts ..as i just bought an XE yesterday
also some cheap wheels to go on it , as there are only 3 of those alloys (forsale) and are to big anyway.

hope people like it.

get yourself a free or nearly free mk2 mate and just strip it for all the parts you need. there are a few about but will prob need collecting with something as most are not going to be road legal,

looks like a good project tho mate,

yea, i saw that on there - looks cool.

btw u'll need nova GTE shafts with mk2 cav inner(?) CV's (please correct me someone) as XE shafts are too long and have the wrong number of splines.

Cheers

just going to get it back on the road , give it a t-cut and polish .. and then sort the paint out later.

work out why the rear suspension is so soft ??

Nova TD Dhafts also do the trick when mated to the Cav Mk2 Inner CVs. Whats wrong with the Recaros in it anyway mate? Looks good But i like the square arches on it to be honest.

won the 1.4 nova for 72 quid ! , comes with some basic alloys , and nice inside .. should have everything i need.

could have got it for 50 quid , but did not act quick enough .. but thats life.
sure its saved me some money .. so i just need some mk2 cav inners now ....

Saloons and 5 doors have the round arches, judging my the size of the re ar bumper, the pickup was based on a saloon, hence the round arches.
If your doinf the bodywork then id definatly swap the front arches to 3doors ones and blend some box arches on to the back.

ok collected my XE tonight , .. off to get donor nova friday , drive shafts and mounts should be here by the weekend as well..

wonder how long it takes to weld up the seams on the nova ?:)

Matt

loggyboy
27-07-06, 09:38 AM
No more than a day if its a MK1 (can take longer on mk2 due to the amount of seam sealer!)
just make sure you have lots of wire bits for your drill/grinder.

16vmini
27-07-06, 10:44 AM
its a 1984 saloon , so is that a mk1 ?

Matt

worth it if youve got standard stoppers on - i payed 20 quid for mine with drilled disks but prices may vary - anything under 30 is ok in my books

I paid ?40 for discs, pads, calipers and sliders.

You'll also need an uprates GSi/GTE master cylinder and servo (the big black disc by the wiper motor under bonnet and the sticky out bit)

ran stock 1200cc master cylinder and servo on mine and it stopped without problems time and time again for the 4 or so years the brakes were on!

Is it 5dr?

16vmini
29-07-06, 11:09 AM
yes , collected last night , does not look too bad.
i might just swap the front doors over as it will save me sorting out the locks / windows / and door panels. are they hard to take off nova doors ?

A bit of a bitch alright, you need the proper punch to remove the pins, that aside it shouldn't be too big of a night mare.

not much done , started to take the dash board our the donor nova , but then got pissed of with that.

noticed the dashboard mounts in the pickup had been cut off ! , so will have to cut them off the donor and weld back on.

noticed quite a bit of rust inside the wheel arch on the rear ...so thats not good.

took one of the rear wheels off , suspension seemed all there and connected up .. but VERY soft at the back ??

change of plans ... someone wanted to buy my XE engine , so sold that :)... still have not got my 16xe mini on the road... so...

thought lets just stick the 1.4 head off the donor nova onto the pickup .. as thats what it was missing ... i then noticed that the pickup did not have a lamba sensor .. and the wiring looked funny .. so assumed it had a carb engine in it ??

so thought sod it , do the head gasket on the donor car .. and get an MOT on it.... !! lol

someone at work allready wants to buy it .. ok it will slow the nova project down .. but making money is better at the moment.

Matt
