Right i have a nova merit, its an e reg with a 4 speed gear box, how difficult is it to fit a 5 speed box?? and what would you recommend?? bearing in mind i am planning an engine conversion at some point

time consuming more than difficult, change the selector also when your changing the box, 4 bolts to floor of car easy peasy.

f13 cr if you can get yours hands on one. Failing that if your not really worried about acc. e.t.c and your doing a conversion soon anyway, f10 or f13wr 5 speed will do you job fine.

hope this helps

Not really ****d about time consumption as i have plenty of time but i'd ideally like a decent enough gear box so i don't have to change it again after doing the engine conversion

depends if your planning on going for a big block conversion or a small block realy

I'm planning on a 3.0 v6, failing that 2.0 16v

looks like that you will have to use a different gearbox when you change our engine then

for the v6 or valver you'll need an f20 out of the same car, if you just want 5 gears on a merit you will need either an f10 or f13, but to be honest the ratios aren't much different between the 4 and 5 speed versions anyway.

they are exactly the same, the only gearbox that has different gear ratios is the f13 close ratio. f10 4 speed, f10 5 speed and f13 wide ratio have exactly the same gear ratios.

waste of time if your going to big block (or small block in the V6 case) it soon anyway.........

really it is a waste of time and effort.

Grab a 1200 box and stick it in. Shouldn't cost too much and not too difficult to fit either.
