exhaust system for nova c20xe

I live in France and I have a 2Ltr 16v nova but still running a 42mm bore stainless exhaust. The engine is not tuned.

When I was looking for a bigger exhaust I found this one (http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8066371582&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1)
The seller said that this exhaust is 51mm bore, so I bought it.

I have received my exhaust but after measuring I find it is 45<->48mm bore:cry:

Before I resell this exhaust I would like to know what bore is better for a c20xe nova ?
So what do you advise me ? reselling the mongoose exhaust buy a bigger one ? Keep the mongoose ?

I think the standard GM exhaust bore is 2"(about 50mm), so i'd stick to that on a standard engine.

Im runing a xe on tb's using a 2" system 50.8-51mm..
And feels held back slightly still..

I have a new system im puttin on it thats a 2.1/4" 58mm..

I my self would advise you to run no smaller then the 2"-51mm

So either send the system back or sell it on mate.

Even 1200cc engines have a 45mm(1 3/4") bore, so thats going to choke your XE.

That's what I think too, but the seller of the mongoose exhaust give me a wrong information.

What is the brand of your 58mm exhaust? where did you buy it?

I bought it off a mate it's second hand..

It's a full JP system,they are a custom exhaust maker in the UK.

That's the best idea if you ask me,look for either a 2nd hand system thats already been on a nova "cosa in france"
Or try to find out where your nearest custom system makers are over there.

You can buy a Magnex system for a GTE/GSi, these use 2" pipework & fit perfectly, ideal for a 2.0 16v

my old XE was on a standard nova GTE exhaust system and i alwys felt it could give more, shame it rusted away before i got chance to replace it !!

correct size for an xe seems to be 2 1/4" my car had this size on it when it had the xe in, was also from jp:)
