ive just fitted an x16xe into my nova and got a few probs. the fuel pump doesnt run so tried just running it off the batteryn but still wont start. i dont think its and ecu prob as im getting a good spark. i was wondering how i can test if the injectors are firing without completely ripping the engine to bits. so any ideas on why it wont start even when i have got the fuel pump wired to the battery to get the fuel. any ideas??

do you have the key and code reader?

IIRC that halts the fuel pump(along with many other things, so without it youre kinda fecked

on the other hand, im wrong (like thats ever hapened hehe)

Have you checked for a pulse at the injectors with a node test?
Is the relay not working for the fuel pump? it's part of the eng harness, so i'm guessing you should have this wired ok?

Do you have the fuel pipes fastened correctly to the rail?? eg feed and return? try swopping them around and then see if it fires. Hope this helps

whats a node test??

Sorry, i didn't explain myself properly, A node light is simply a small device that can be plugged into an injector harness to see if it has a pulse, as the pulse cannot be detected with a test light or similar. Try swopping the fuel lines first and see what happens.

Can you buy these?
Or is it like a "in the trade" device?

So you're definately sure that the fuel is flowing the right way across the rail? Hmm, Are the plugs fuel fouled? and you've definately got the imobilser working yeah?

I bought my set off a cheap tools supplier at work, made by draper, and i think they were a tenner. Mine are a set, so there's different ones for gm, vag, rover etc. Don't use them much tbh, but useful on the odd occasion when you do. I know were going off the subject a bit here, but i thought you were "in the trade" long live?

right after hours of testing all different things i have tracked it down to the brown/red wires from the fuel relay and injectors. i beleave these to be earths that go threw the ecu and basically they aint earthing so i need ideas as to why this might be??

Nope.

Anyways, back on topic, i've not heard of anyone having a problem with the fuel pump relay before...

They celebrate Guy Fawkes too?

Yep, normally by blowing up 10 storey buildings, shops, burning out cars and the occasional UN land rover or a Humvee lol lol

Or leave land mines in the street, next to a dog tied to a post just as a UN patrol is passing, and you can imagine that our lads will walk over to the dog
