ive been away on holiday and left my car to have the SR engine fitted (car is originally a 1.2i single point)

the lad whos fitting it know his stuff (hes had red-top astras, SR's etc etc) but since fiting the engine, it is giving very little spark

it ran fine prior to removing it from the SR shell.

he seems to think its the amplifier on the coil. it has loads of volts up to it, but harldy any after it

any ideas folks??

need the car for work tomorrow if possible cheers

Is it a very little spark from the coil.

Or just at the HT heads?

from what i gather its at the leads

not enought to fire it up

its getting fuel, turning over, has compression, just wont fire up

If its a weak spark at the spark plug leads(but a strong spark direct from the coil)
Then check the rotor,dizzy cap.

narrowed it down to the ignition module today (amplifier that sits under the coil)

i work at a sizeable salvage yard (scrappy to you and me:thumb:) and we dont have any. tried everything. same module is used on pug-205,309,405 cit-bx vaux-astra II, astraIII, nova (anything carbed)

the coil is the cyllindrical type. later injection ones use a square coil

its a bosch, cant remember part number
intermotor factor number - 15010
6-pin plug on it

ordered one so itl turn up tomorrow, hopefully

really annoying me now, gotta bus it to and from work

What coil were you using?
The square type one?

nope, swapped everything from SR to mine including coil (cylindrical type)

**** knows why its blown, it worked fine in the SR
