dont think hes making them anymore.

I like the standard nova mirrors meself although Manat mirrors are cool (keith robinsons nova).

M3 and DTM ones dont look right imo...

The boxy nova ones go with the boxy look of the nova.

i think hes right bob is ur uncle, then just get a bit of cardboard make it the same size as ur new stubby wing mirror then cut it about 1mm smaller, take the old mirror and new patten down to a mirror shop/cutters and ask then to cut it down to size, put it back together. :thumb:

you cant just cut a section out the middle because the mirror covers are angles and doing so would ruin the line.

You can reduce the section that houses the glass (including the mounting and mechanism inside) but for the cover you need to fashion one from scratch then cast it.

you could probably use part of the cover but you;d need to refashion the lines I'd think

But that clips to the base.

The varying thicknesses of the base etc is what makes doing it so hard. Ive just sold mine to someone on her but I might make a few more sets if anyone wants them They take ages tho so wont be cheap.

How much to make a pair then Craig ?

I've tried and given up on several occasions !

craig green

For the amount of time it takes they would have to be a bit more than ?50 tbh.

I dont like asking too much but they are so time consuming. Perhaps I'll try & make a couple more pairs & then put them on ebay (only joking).

I'd put them For Sale on here. :thumb:

Might try & see how small it is physically possible to make them too.

a sharp knife, washing up bottle and some sticky tape?

alternatively a hacksaw and some filler should work.

Was more than an inch IIRC. How have you got round the fact that the further out along the mirror base, the thinner the (black) edge is? Removing an inch from the middle will result in a step.

It took me about 3-4 months of lunchtimes & skiving off to do mine.

rite ok then, i now have 1 compleatly finished mirror and it looks pretty cool, even if i do say so myself:thumb: , i need to get the glass shortened tomorrow, and then apart from the paint which i have not decided upon yet, hey presto.

The other 1 is in bits and ready to be reassembled will do that tomorrow as well and hopefully buy satuday afternoon i will have a sweet pair of 'stubbies'lol .

craig why did it take u 3-4 months?

im thinking of possibly making and selling these mirrors, it would be on a return basis i.e, u send me ur good nick standard mirrors and in return ill send the stubbies. Have not decided on a price yet.

whos interested ???

I suffer a severe form of dyslexia & must have adult supervision when using scissors & such like.

I wanted them to look factory. We await your efforts.

they look really good - well done!

Best way of mass producing something like this is to make molds either out of silicone rubber or fibreglass (make sure you use a good release agent on the originals or make another set as a master).

Make the covers and any basic parts that can be copied from a 1 part mould. If you know how make more complex ones out of 2 part molds (plenty of sites on net to tell you how to do this).

If done right you can knock them out pretty quick...Then all you have to do it clean up and assemble.

It is easier said than done (aka model novas)...but if you get the mold right 1st off it should be quick...

WIP pics will suffice, infact they might be more beneficial than just 'finished article' pics.

Not anymore.....

Stubby ones seem to be a bit of a nightmare to make due to the shape of them but i say give it a shot, you can only fail. Buy a spare mirror for a few quid on ebay and start on it.

Precisely.

I had the idea the 1st time I ever saw a Nova mirror, then about a yr or so later Brett Warburtons SRi appeared to have what I wanted. Fearless was the 1st to execute it.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I'm half way through a convertion myself ere and trimming the Blac part seems ok. The Mirror Cover is whats posing problems on this end. I will say this, the mirrors are narrower on the end than they are where mounted to the car but it isn''t really that difficukt to do. Just extremely time consuming. I'll keep you all posted.
