Wiring question

The head unit in Dad's mk3 astra isnt working, when you turn it on it emits a high pitched whine which fades out, however pulling the unit out and sticking it in the nova showed that it works fine, so I think its a wiring problem.

Where should I start? :confused:

Agreed, re-earth the head unit (doing a trial earth with new earth lead in a different spot) before you do anything drastic.
